Allocation of Central Assistance to two districts of Meghalaya under SGRY

The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned Grants-in-aid amounting to Rs.2.58 crore as second instalment to two districts of Meghalaya, viz. East Khasi Hills and West Khasi Hills, as central assistance for the implementation of the Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) during the current financial year (2006-07).  The details of the allocation are as under :

The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilized for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY Guidelines. The expenditure on implementation of the programme with regard to cash component is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Central and the State Government respectively. The Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) to provide additional wage employment to the rural areas as also food security, alongside the creation of durable community assets, socio-economic infrastructure in the rural areas.  Under the Scheme, foodgrains is provided every year, free of cost to the State Governments and Union Territory Administration.  The payment of food grains is made by the Ministry of Rural Development to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) directly.                                                                                                                         AD/ST/JA
