The total credit flow to agriculture upto 30 September, 2005 by Commercial Banks, Cooperative Banks and RRBs is of the order of Rs83,502 crore forming 59% of the annual target of Rs.1,41,000 crore and 111% of the target of Rs.75,000 crore for the period ended September 2005.
The agency wise break up of credit flow is as under:-

A comparison over the credit flow in the same period last year shows there is an improved performance this year since by September 2004, only 51% of the target of Rs.105,000 crore for 2004-05 had been achieved.

As may be seen from the above table, the share of crop loans, both in respect of Cooperative Banks & RRBs is very high, mainly on account of intesive lending for production credit during the kharif season. Normally, the investment credit has a tendency to pick up during the second half of the year.

524 agri-clincs have been sanctioned as on 30 September, 2005, Commercial banks have financed 488 agri-clinics, RRBs 34, and Cooperative Banks have financed 2 agri-clinics so far. The figure for the corresponding period of 2004-05 was 208.
In view of 5.39 lakh SHGs having been covered during 2004-05, the target for the year 2005-06 may be up-scaled to 3 lakh.
