Central funds for Manipur under SGRY

The Ministry of Rural Development has sanctioned Grants-in- aid of Rs 58 lakh to Imphal West district of Manipur as second installment under Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) during the current financial year (2006-07).

The grant is towards plan expenditure and will be utilized for approved items of works subject to the conditions laid down in the SGRY Guidelines. The expenditure on implementation of the program with regard to cash component is to be shared on 75:25 basis between the Central and the State Government respectively.

The first installment during the year 2007-08 under the scheme will be released after receiving the details of the Meetings held by the Vigilance and Monitoring Committee at the District and State level in 2006-07.

The Sampoorna Grameen Rozgar Yojana (SGRY) is a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) to provide additional wage employment to the rural areas as also food security, alongside the creation of durable community assets, socio-economic infrastructure in the rural areas. Under the Scheme, food grains is provided every year, free of cost to the State Governments and Union Territory Administration. The payment of food grains are made by the Ministry of Rural Development to the Food Corporation of India (FCI) directly.
