The number of persons killed in consequential train accidents during 2004-05 and 2005-06 and the amount of compensation paid are as under:

During this period, considering the various aspects and seriousness of the case, the Hon’ble Minister of Railways had announced to give employment in the Railways to one dependent of the persons killed in the accident of Train No.415, Delta Fast Passenger, on October 29, 2005 near Valigonda. So far, 74 applications for employment have been received from the dependents of the 115 deceased, and these are under process.
This information was given by the Minister of Railways Shri R.Velu in written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha today.
