The Government provided employment to 323270 educated unemployed youths under the Prime Minister’s Rozgar Yojana (PMRY) in the country in 2003-04 as compared to 284548 persons in 2002-03. For this an amount of Rs.2010.20 lakh was spent during the last financial year while Rs. 1544.38 lakh was spent in 2002-03.
The Government took various measures to make the scheme more effective; which include, enhancing the eligibility of upper age limit and subsidy ceiling for applicants in the hilly States and North Eastern Region.
