Free sale sugar quota for January February and March released

Government has released 10.5 lakh tonnes of sugar for the month of January, 10.5 lakh tonnes for February and 10 lakh tonnes for March, 2004 as quotas for indigenous free sale. With a levy quota of 2.00 lakh tonnes released for each of these three months, the total availability of sugar would be 12.50, 12.50 and 12.00 lakh tonnes respectively in each of these months.

The free sale quotas are meant only for internal consumption and with enough stocks of sugar in hand, Government would not hesitate in releasing further substantial quantities additionally if required.
