Home Minister reviews implementation of development schemes in naxal affected areas

The Union Home Minister Shri Shivraj V. Patil today reviewed the implementation of various development schemes in naxal-affected districts. The meeting lasting over two hours, was attended by senior officers from Ministries of -Rural Development, Power, Telecommunications, Health & Family Welfare, Agriculture, Tribal Affairs and Panchayati Raj.

Shri Patil emphasized the importance of faster development in the naxal-affected districts as part of the holistic approach to take the fruits of development to the people. He urged the implementing Departments to identify area specific solutions, keeping in view the problems of difficulty of terrain and accessibility of some of the locations. The officials from different ministries briefed the Home Minister on the implementation of different schemes including National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, Indira Awas Yojna etc. This apart, the Home Minister was informed about the status of Power and Telecommunications connectivity in the Naxal Affected areas.

The Minister of State for Home Affairs Shri Sriprakash Jaiswal, Union Home Secretary Shri Madhukar Gupta and Senior MHA officials were also present in the meeting.
