Sowing of Rabi Rice is in progress in the States of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala and Tamil Nadu. The total coverage, so far, during 2006-07 is 1.52 lakh hectare against 1.55 lakh hectare during the corresponding period of 2005-06.
Sowing of wheat is in progress in the States of Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttranchal and Uttar Pradesh. The total coverage, so far, during 2006-07 is 26.27 lakh hectare against 15.56 lakh hectare during corresponding period of 2005-06.
The sowing of Rabi Coarse cereals is in progress in most of the coarse cereals growing States. The total coverage under jowar has been 38.72 lakh hectare against 38.48 lakh hectare during corresponding period of 2005-06. The coverage under maize 1.73 lakh hectare against 2.23 lakh hectare Barley 1.67 lakh hectare against 1.34 lakh hectare and total coarse cereals is 43.00 lakh hectare against 42.57 lakh hectare during corresponding period of 2005-06.
