Record iron ore production by SAIL Mines

The Iron Ore Mines of the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a public sector undertaking of the Steel Ministry produced 9.26 million tonnes of iron ore (lumps + fine) during the first three quarters of this financial year. This shows a growth of 7.9 per cent over the previous best performance during the same period last year and is the highest ever production during the first nine months of any financial year.

Production of 2.64 million tonnes and 2.38 million tonnes of iron ore from Kiriburu and Bolani mines during this period is also the highest ever performance by these mines during April-December since inception. Bolani ore mines created an all time monthly record by producing 0.34 of iron ore during December, 2003.

Meghahatuburu and Kalta iron ore mines produced 2.55 million tonnes and 0.83 million tonnes during these three months showing a growth of 12.7 per cent and 18.3 per cent respectively over the production of the same period last year. Barsuan mines in the quarter attained a growth of 19 per cent in production of iron ore.
