Tree Plantation Drive in NDMC Schools launched

Union Minister for Urban Employment and Poverty Alleviation, Kumari Selja today launched the Tree Plantation Drive in a NDMC School in the capital by planting some saplings. Speaking on the occasion she said that there is a need to inculcate the right concerns about Sanitation, Environment and Habitat in children’s mind so that they can carry it along in their future life. She urged all the school managements to join hands with the government in its effort to develop a clean, healthy habitat. She promised all support from the government in this regard.

Smt. Chitra Chopra, Secretary Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation in her speech said that children are the best medium to popularize social concerns and the examples of its impact on the plastic bag and crackers menace in the capital in the last few years. She expressed hope that the message on the importance of a healthy and clean habitat will reach various sections of the society through these activities undertaken by the government.

Among others present on the occasion were Smt. Sindhushri Khullar, Chairperson NDMC, and senior officials of the Ministry of Urban Employment & Poverty Alleviation.
