Question : NATIONAL WATER POLICY



(a) whether the Government proposes to review the National Water Policy and to give it more teeth;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the existing National Water Policy is not adequate to resolve the water related issues; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and by when a comprehensive new National Water Policy would be announced and implemented?

(a) & (b) The National Water Policy, 2002 adopted by National Water Resources Council on 1st April, 2002 has a provision for periodical revision as and when need arises. The process of examination and review of all related issues is a continuing activity.

(c) Resolving of water related issues have been adequately addressed in the existing National Water Policy, 2002.

(d) Does not arise.
