Question : Crime by Juveniles

(a) whether there has been a steep rise in the rate of crimes committed by juveniles in the country in the span of ten years;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the rise in such crimes is due to lack of proper rehabilitation facilities for the children once they are released from the juvenile homes; and

(d) if so, the details thereof and the action taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) & (b): As per information provided by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB), the incidents of juveniles in conflict with laws rose from 18939 in 2005 to 33526 in 2014 under IPC crimes.

(c) & (d): There is no information to substantiate that lack of rehabilitation is one of the major factors for incidents of juveniles in conflict with laws.
