Question : Promotion of Fisheries in Nalanda

Will the Minister of FISHERIES, ANIMAL HUSBANDRY AND DAIRYING ??????????, ??????? ?? ????? ?????? be pleased to state:

(a) whether the Government is aware of the fact that an awareness about fisheries is increasing in the State of Bihar, particularly in Nalanda district;

(b) whether the Nalanda district of the State of Bihar has the first position in fisheries;

(c) the details of incentives being provided by the Government to the farmers so as to promote fisheries;

(d) whether the Government is also considering to provide interest free loan to fisheries farmers;

(e) whether the Government is considering to provide special economic assistance to the farmers keeping in view high water requirement and high cost of diesel in fisheries; and

(f) if so, the details thereof?

(a) and (b) : The Government of Bihar has reported that awareness towards fish farming has been increased throughout the State including Nalanda District through seminars, workshops and training programmes. Fish farming is becoming popular with the introduction of various schemes of Government of India and State plan schemes. It is further reported that Nalanda District is one of the fisheries potential districts of the State.
(c) to (f) : The Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is implementing a flagship scheme “Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) - A scheme to bring about Blue Revolution through sustainable and responsible development of fisheries sector in India” with highest ever estimate investment of Rs.20050 crore in fisheries sector for a period of 5 years with effect from the financial year 2020-21. The financial assistance provided under PMMSY to fish farmers includes, construction of ponds with inputs cost, Re-circulatory Aquaculture System(RAS), hatcheries for quality seed supply, feed plants, biofloc aquaculture units, cold storages, transport and marketing facilities, value added facilities, cage culture and pen culture units, support for ornamental fish culture, integrated fish farming, recreational fisheries etc. During the current financial year (2020-21), the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying has accorded approval to the proposal of Government of Bihar at a total cost of Rs.107.00 crore under the PMMSY. Besides, the Department of Fisheries, Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying is also implementing Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund (FIDF) with the fund size of Rs. 7522 crores for concessional financing to Eligible Entities (EEs) including fish farmers for development of identified fisheries infrastructure facilities.
