Question : VIOLATION OF LEASE DEEDS



(a) whether a number of Hotels, Cinema halls and Clubs in the capital have breached their lease deeds conditions resulting in a loss of about 75 crores to the Government as stated by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, in its annual report for 1999;

(b) if so, the facts in this regard; and

(c) the action taken/proposed to be taken by the Government against these establishments including the cancellation of their lease deeds?

(a): Yes, Sir.

(b): A statement showing names of institutions and the details of amount demanded/amount recoverable (upto Sept. 1997) etc. as per observations of the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, in its Annual Report for the year ended on 31.3.1999, is placed below at Annexure `A`.

(c): A special Cell is being set up to monitor timely recovery of Government dues. In case any lessee fails to comply with the terms/demands, action under the provision of lease, which may include determination of lease would be taken.
