(c) & (d) The present total nuclear power capacity of 2720 MWe is planned to be increased to 4020 MWe by the end of X Plan (March 2007) and 9935 MWe by the end of XI Plan (March 2012).The aim is to reach a total nuclear power capacity of 20,000 MWe by the year 2020 forming a share of about 7% of the total electricity generation. In spite of the significant planned increase in nuclear power capacities upto the year 2020, the contribution from nuclear power would still be modest with respect to the total electrical generating capacity in the country.
