Question : FUNDS FOR ISRO



(a) whether the Government has instructed the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to surrender unspent Budget allocation during the last three years, from the funds originally allocated to ISRO and if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor;

(b) the total amount allocated, disbursed and spent by ISRO for its projects during the last three financial years and upto December, 2014;

(c) whether Government had provided required budget in the current year 2014-15 to meet the security and surveillance requirements of Department of Space (DoS)/ISRO; and

(d) the steps taken by Government toprovide security and surveillance to thestrategically important Centres like MasterControl Facility, Hassan and Deep SpaceNetwork, Byalalu in Ramanagara,Karnataka?

(a) & (b) Yes, Madam. As part of the budgeting process, Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has surrendered the unspent budget from the originally allocated Budget Estimates (BE) as per Revised Estimates (RE) allocations. The details of BE, RE and expenditure incurred during last three years and upto December 2014 are given below:

(c) Yes Madam. The required budget to meet the security and surveillance requirements of Department of Space (DOS)/ISRO Centres/units has been provided in the current year 2014-15.

(d) The safety and security cover at strategically important Centres like Master Control Facility, Hassan and Deep Space Network, Byalalu is provided by armed Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). A strict authentication process is in place at all entry points on ground, to prevent entry of any unauthorised person into the Centre. CCTV cameras are installed at all the critical locations for surveillance.
