Question : TAKING OVER OF PRITHVIRAJ CHAUHAN FORT



(a) whether the Government propose to take any steps for taking over the fort of Prithviraj Chauhan for renovation situated at Nimrana Rajasthan and bringing back the mortal of Prithviraj Chauhan from Afganistan as reported in Navbharat Times dated September 26, 2000;

(b) if so, the facts of the matter reported therein;

(c) the reaction of the Government thereto along with the amount to be incurred on renovation;

(d) whether the Government have received requests from the various social organisations in this regard; and

(e) if so, the details thereof?

(a)&(b)Government have no proposal to bring the Nimrana Fort in Rajasthan under Central protection. There is no authentic evidence of mortal remains of Prithviraj Chauhan.

(c) Does not arise.

(d) A request has been received from Kshatriya Maha Sabha Janpad Meerut in this regard.

(e) The request relates to bringing the ashes of Prithviraj Chauhan from Kandahar, Afghanistan to India and their display in a befitting manner; the Nirmana Fort be declared a centrally protected monument and the descedents of Prithviraj Chauhan be given the status of freedom fighters.
