Question : UTILIZATION OF SPORTS FUND

(a) whether the funds allocated/sanctioned to various States during the last three years for creation of sports infrastructure and sport activities are diverted for other activities;

(b) if so, the details thereof, State/UT-wise;

(c) the names of the States which have not submitted the utilisation certificates for the funds sanctioned by the Government during the said period alongwith the action taken against them, State/UT-wise; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government to ensure proper utilisation of funds for the specified purpose and check its diversion for other purposes?

(a) No Madam.

(b) Does not arise.

(c) Details of States which have not submitted utilization certificate for the fund sanctioned by the Government are contained in Annexure – I. Defaulting States/ UTs are asked to refund the amounts alongwith 10% interest. In addition, no further grants are released to defaulting States/UTs.

(d) The Government obtains utilization certificates from concerned States/UTs for the grants released to them. These UCs certify utilization of the grants for the purpose for which they were sanctioned.
