Question : PLI Scheme for Bulk Drugs

Will the Minister of CHEMICALS AND FERTILIZERS be pleased to state:

(a) the details of applications received and selected under Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Bulk Drugs Scheme per State since the start of the scheme till date;
(b) the details of the measures taken by the Government to promote the scheme;
(c) whether steps have been taken to establish backward linkages with Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs); and
(d) if so, the details thereof and if not, the reasons therefor?

(a): In total 215 applications have been received for the 36 products spread across the 4 Target Segments for the PLI schemes for Bulk Drugs from all over the country. Out of these, 33 applications have been approved by the Government till date. The details of the applications approved is at Annexure.

(b) The Government promoted the Scheme by holding meetings with Industry Associations, manufacturers & investors. It also held interactions with number of State governments as well as foreign embassies. The Guidelines of the Scheme were uploaded on the Department’s website for wider dissemination. The Scheme was also promoted through Print and Electronic Media as well as social media handles.

(c) & (d): Out of 33 selected companies, six are Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) besides some newly incorporated entities. The Scheme provides minimum domestic value addition to be achieved by each approved applicant. Therefore, the large-scale projects approved under the Scheme will also accelerate domestic procurement, which will strengthen the eco system and marketplace for MSME sector.
