(a) whether any assessment has been made by the Union Government to check soil erosion in the river Yamuna during the last three years;
(b) if so, the details thereof;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the effective steps taken or proposed to be taken to check soil erosion by the river Yamuna in Uttar Pradesh?

(a) to (d): The State Governments make assessment of soil erosion in river bed/ bank, while formulating flood management schemes. This Ministry provides technical/ financial support to the States for critical flood management works, under Sector Plan Scheme titled “Flood Management Programme (FMP)” which, inter-alia, includes anti-erosion measures. Details of the schemes on river Yamuna getting central assistance under FMP are annexed.
