(a) the number of on-going projects being run by National Thermal Power Corporation and National Hydro-electric Power Corporation in Tamil Nadu;
(b) the details of the capacity of those power projects, costs involved and production during the last three years;
(c) whether the Government have any new projects under survey in Tamil Nadu;
(d) if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the details of the private sector participation in the power sector in Tamil Nadu?

(a) & b) : There is no on-going power project being executed
by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) and National
Hydro-Electric Power Corporation (NHPC) in Tamil Nadu.
(c) & (d) : NTPC/Government of India has identified a 1500 MW
capacity power project at Cheyyur in Kanchipuram district of
Tamil Nadu as a mega project to be implemented by NTPC. NTPC is
examining the feasibility of setting up Stage-I with a capacity
of 1000 MW for which various pre-feasibility studies have been
taken up.
NHPC has not so far been entrusted with any
project in Tamil Nadu.
(e) : The details of private sector power projects in
Tamil Nadu which have been accorded techno-economic clearance by the Central Electricity Authority are as follows;-
