Question : PRODUCTION AND CONSUMPTION OF UREA



(a) whether the production of urea is more than the consumption in the country;

(b) if so, the reasons for the shortage of urea; and

(c) if so, the reaction of the Government thereto?

(a): No, Madam. The indigenous production of urea in the country is less than consumption. The gap between assessed demand and indigenous production is bridged through imports.
