Question : LOAN BY KVIC



(a) Whether it is a fact that KVIC sanctioned loan to its aided institutions;

(b) if so, the details of loans sanctioned and distributed in the last three years alongwith list of its aided institutions;

(c) the amount of loans yet to be recovered; and

(d) the measures taken by KVIC to recover the same?

THE MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SMALL SCALE INDUSTRIES AND AGRO AND RURAL INDUSTRIES (SMT. VASUNDHARA RAJE)

(a): Yes, Sir. However, since the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) has not been conceived as a financial institution, the institutions are encouraged to take new loans from the Banks.

(b): The details of loans disbursed to various States/Union Territories by the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) during last three years i.e., 1996-97 to 1998-99 are given at Annexure.

(c): As on 31.3.2000 an amount of Rs. 223.84 crores under CBC fund and an amount of Rs. 438.41 crores under budgetary source are due for recovery from the KVIC`s directly aided Institutions.

(d): The Commission has established recovery cells in head office as well as at its field offices for monitoring the recovery of outstanding dues. Further, recovery notices are sent to loanees to remit dues. In addition to this, the outstanding dues are also recovered from the outgo, if any, to the Institutions.
