Question : SETTING UP OF EFFLUENT TREATMENT PLANT IN A.P.



(a) whether the Union Government have any schemes to assist State Governments to set up effluent treatment plants;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Government of Andhra Pradesh has sought assistance to set up effluent treatment plant at Amberpet in Andhra Pradesh;

(d) if so, whether the proposal has been examined and the outcome thereof; and

(e) the details of assistance given to Andhra Pradesh in this regard?

(a) & (b) The Union Government has a scheme on Common Effluent Treatment Plant (CETP) wherein financial assistance is given to the small scale industrial units for the construction of CETP for the treatment of effluent. The financing pattern for the CETP consists of a grant of 25% of the project cost from the Central Government subject to a matching contribution from the State Government, 20% promoter`s contribution and the remaining amount could be taken as a loan from financial institutions.

(c), (d),(e) Proposal for Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) at Amberpet was submitted by the State Government for allocation of funds under the National River Conservation Plan. This proposal can not be considered under the National River Conservation Plan of the Central Government, as Amberpet is not included in this programme.
