(a) the details of oilseeds crushing industries at present, State-wise;
(b) whether the crushing capacity of these industries is sufficient for entire utilisation
of the production;
(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and
(d) the steps being taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) Consequent upon delicensing of vegetable oil industry in July, 1991, no authentic
information about the oilseed crushing industries State-wise is available. As per available
information, on All India Basis, there are around 1,50,000 oilseed crushing units both in the
organised and in the small scale sector, with a total annual capacity of 425 lakh MTs in terms
of oilseeds.
(b) Yes Sir. In fact the capacity utilisation of the oilseed crushing units varies from
10% in case of small scale sector to 30% in the organised sector which shows that the installed
capacity of the industry is far in excess of oil-seed production.
