Question : LOSS DUE TO NATURAL CALAMITY

(a)to(c): The Implementation Report to fulfil the Assurance given in response to Lok Sabha Unstarred Question No.3100 on 20th December, 2004 by the Department of Agriculture & Cooperation has been sent to the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs on 21st March, 2005. It has been stated there in that as per the present Scheme for financing of relief expenditure, the State Government concerned is required to undertake relief measures in the affected areas out of the corpus of Calamity Relief Fund (CRF), which is contributed by the Government of India and the State Government in the ratio of 3:1. In case of calamity of a severe nature, assistance is also provided to the State Governments from the National Calamity Contingency Fund (NCCF) after following the laid down procedure.

The State of Uttar Pradesh, was allocated an amount of Rs.177.81 crore for the year 2004-05, comprising of Rs.133.36 crore as Central contribution and Rs.44.45 crore as State contribution. Entire amount of Centre share was released during 2004-05.

The natural calamity of falling of trees in Achepur villages in Unnao district, Uttar Pradesh, was relatively a minor and localized one and as such was not required to be reported by the State Government to the Ministry of Home Affairs and was well within the responsibility of the State Government.
