Question : TRIBAL ALLOWANCE IN NAXAL AFFECTED AREA



(a) whether tribal allowance is given by the Government in Naxal affected area of Nanded, Maharashtra;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Maharashtra Government give tribal allowance to all its State Government employees in naxal affected tribal areas of Nanded, Maharashtra; and

(d) if so, the details thereof alongwith the details of the proposal to give the -allowance to Central Government Employees posted in these areas?

(a), (b) & (c) In so far as the State Government of Maharashtra is concerned, they have formulated a scheme under which, their employees working in the Naxal affected and sensitive areas (as identified by the State Government) are given incentive Allowance at the rate of 15% of their basic pay with minimum and maximum limits of Rs.200/- and Rs.1500/- per month respectively. Accordingly all the State Government employees working in Kinwat Taluka a Naxal affected area of Nanded District are given Incentive Allowance.

(d) In so far as the Central Government employees are concerned, the Scheduled/Tribal Area Allowance is admissible at the prescribed rates subject to the condition that:

`This allowance shall cease to be admissible in those States Where it has been discontinued for the State Government employees w.e.f. the date(s) of such discontinuance and shall be admissible at the revised rates only in those States where such allowance continues to be extended for the State Government employees`.
