Question : HRA TO PORT AND DOCK WORKERS



(a) whether the Government have a proposal to pay House Rent Allowance to the Port and dock workers;

(b) if so, the date from which the payment would be made;

(c) whether the House Rent Allowance would be paid to them at revised rate from retrospective effect;

(d) if so, the details thereof; and

(e) the steps taken thereon?

MINISTER OF STATE IN THE MINISTRY OF SURFACE TRANSPORT (SHRI HUKUMDEO NARAYAN YADAV)

(a) Yes, Sir.

(b) The payment would be made with effect from 1.1.1998.

(c) Yes, Sir.

(d) House Rent Allowance at revised rates would be paid to the Port and Dock Workers, with retrospective effect (1.1.1998), i.e. the date from which the settlement becomes effective.

(e) An Agreement on the Wage Settlement of Class III & IV employees of Major Port Trusts and Dock Labour Boards has been signed by the Port Management and the five major Federations on 2.8.2000.
