(a) the value of foreign goods seized by the Department of Customs during the last three years till 30.11.02 alongwith the locations from where these foreign goods were seized;
(b) the manner in which these foreign goods have been finally disposed by the Government during the last two years; and
(c) the criteria adopted for fixing the prices of the seized goods alongwith the amount received therefrom during the above period?

(a):The vale of foreign goods seized by the Customs field
formations through the country-during last three financial
years and current financial year ending 30.11.2002, location-wise
is enclosed as per Annexure-I.
(b) As per the existing policy, the foreign goods seized/
confiscated have been dispsed of by means of:-
(i) sale proceeds - through Govt. agencies like National Consumers Cooperative Federation;
(ii) Publication
(iii) destruction if the goods are hazardousdrugs
(iv) releasing the goods to the party on payment of redemption fine, penalty and duty, as imposed by the adjudicating authority;
(v) gold is sold through theauthorized bank/viz State Bank of India.
(c) Fixation of selling price is done by Joint Pricing
Committee headed by Senior Custom Officers in cases where no
selling price of any confiscated goods is available. The quality,
condition and prevailing market rate etc. of the confiscted goods
forms the basis of price fixation. The amount received from sale
proceeds of seized/confiscated goods for last two financial years
are as under:-
