Question : AGRO AND RURAL INDUSTRIES IN TAMIL NADU



(a) Whether the Government have received any request from the Government of Tamil Nadu for additional support to their existing Agro and rural Industries in Tamil Nadu;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) the steps taken by the Government to provide basic infrastructure facilities and loan schemes for the development of Agro/Rural Industries, particularly in Tamil Nadu; and

(d) the details of the funds allocated for the same in the last five years, year-wise?

(a): No, Sir.

(b): Does not arise.

(c): The Government through the Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC) gives support to Khadi and Village Industries in the form of financial, technical and managerial assistance.

The Margin Money Scheme of the KVIC, is applicable throughout the country including Tamil Nadu. Under this schme 25% of the project cost is provided as margin money. For Project cost above Rs. 10 lakhs and upt rs. 25 lakhs the rate of margin money is 25% of Rs. 10 lakhs plus 10% of the balance cost of the project. For weaker Sections, margin money is given at the rate of 30% of the project cost upto Rs. 10 lakhs and for the balance amount (upto Rs. 25 lakhs) it is 10%. Moreover, the benefits under this scheme are admissible to all village industries except those which are mentioned in a small negative list.
