Question : Increasing Prices of LPG Cylinders

(a) the details of increase in price of LPG cylinders both subsidized and non-subsidized during the last three years, State-wise including Tamil Nadu;
(b) the reasons for hike in price including the details of pricing mechanism;
(c) the details of influences of LPG price in India and whether the domestic users are entitled to get a total of 20 cylinders each year from 12;
(d) the details of profits earned by Public Sector Oil companies during the last three years, till date, year-wise and company-wise; and
(e) the steps taken/proposed to be taken to control the increasing price of LPG cylinders?

(a)
The State-wise details of prices of LPG cylinder both subsidized and non-subsidized as on 01.04.2017, 01.04.2018 and 01.04.2019 are given at annexure.
(b) to (e)
The prices of petroleum products in the country are linked to the price of respective products in the international market. However, the Government continues to modulate the effective price to consumer for Subsidized Domestic LPG and the consumers get the product at subsidized rate. The subsidy on Subsidized Domestic LPG increase/ decrease with the increase/ decrease in the product price in international market and decision of Government on subsidy.
Domestic LPG consumers are entitled to get subsidized cylinder with a cap of 12 cylinders in a Financial Year.
The details of profit after tax for public sector oil marketing companies viz IOCL, BPCL and HPCL for last three years and current year is as under:-
