Question : EXPORT OF DRUGS



(a) the details of the drugs exported and foreign exchange earned therefrom during the last three years;

(b) whether there has been a decrease in the export of drugs during 2004-05;

(c) if so, the details thereof and the reasons therefor; and

(d) the steps taken by the Government in this regard?

(a) Exports of large number of Indian drugs are destined to more than 200 countries around the globe including highly regulated markets of US, Europe, Japan and Australia. The value of export of drugs, Pharmaceuticals and fine chemicals during the last three years has been as follows:

(b) Decrease in export of drugs is not seen from the data given in reply to (a), above. The data for 2004-05 would be finalized only after the financial year is over.

(c) and (d) Does not arise in view of reply to (b) above.
