Question : SCOPE OF PROCESSING UNITS FOR CARROT JUICE AND ISABGOL

(a) whether the Government have examined the scope of processing units for carrot juice and isabgol cutting in the Banaskantha, Patan and Mehsana districts of Gujarat; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) & (b): The Ministry of Food Processing Industries have requested State Governments to conduct detailed studies, which could assist them in formulating action oriented policies for the development of processed food sector as also for devising action plan & strategies for the development of the sector based on strengths of the region.

Under the Plan Scheme of this Ministry, assistance is available for setting up / expansion /modernisation of fruits and vegetables processing units including those for production of carrot juice in Banaskantha, Patan & Mehsana districts of Gujarat, if viable project proposals are received in the Ministry.
