Question : SUPPLY OF POWER BY SUPER THERMAL POWER PLANT



(a) whether thousands of acres of land of local farmers was acquired for Koderma Super Thermal Power Plant of Damodar Valley Corporation;

(b) if so, the details of the power supplied from the plant to various States including Jharkhand;

(c) whether the project was sanctioned with the condition that power will be supplied free of cost to local villages and adjoining areas within a radius of ten kilometres;

(d) if so, the details thereof;

(e) whether the Government is likely to instruct the Damodar Valley Corporation to fulfill local expectations including supply of power free of cost to the adjoining villages;

(f) if so, the details thereof; and (g) if not, the reasons therefor?

(a) : Yes, Madam. 1887 Acres of land was acquired for Koderma Thermal Power Station (KTPS) of Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), out of which 950 Acres was Raiyati Land.

(b) : After declaration of Commercial Operation of KTPS, up to May, 2014, total 1392 Million Units (MU) have been supplied by KTPS. Out of this, 1233 MU have been supplied to the valley area consumers in Jharkhand and West Bengal. Rest 159 MU have been supplied to the State of Haryana in terms of Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between DVC and Haryana.

(c) : No, Madam.

(d) : Doesn`t arise in view of (c) above.
