Question : Skill Training of Youths

(a) the percentage of people trained from every State and the number of people who are under training;

(b) the details of number of NGOs/ training institutes involved from the Governments as well as from the private institutes as on date; and

(c) the quantum of fund released by the Government and amount spent for the same?

(a) to (c) There are over 40 skill development schemes implemented by over 18 Central Ministries/Departments across various sectors which has the mandate to promote skilling of all the people including youth, in the Country. Funds under these schemes are provided by the concerned Ministries/Departments to the implementing agencies including States in accordance with the guidelines issued for the schemes.


Details of people trained under various skill development schemes/programmes of over 18 Central Ministries/Departments during the year 2015-16 (upto December, 2015) are as under:-

Further, Government has launched Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yonajna (PMKVY) on 15th July, 2015 which has the target to benefit 24 lakh persons within one year across the Country with training of 14 lakh fresh entrants and certification of 10 lakh persons under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). It is a skill certification and reward scheme wherein trainees after their successful assessment and certification, get monetary reward through direct bank transfer to their account. NSDC is the implementing agency for PMKVY. An amount of Rs. 500 crore has been released under the scheme during the current financial year i.e. 2015-16.


As on 26th February, 2016,there are 10,066 training centres providing skill training under PMKVY across the Country with the coverage of 606 districts.
