Question : INFRASTRUCTURAL DEVELOPMENT OF TOURIST SPOTS IN U .P.



(a) whether the Government of Uttar Pradesh have submitted a proposal to the Union Government for infrastructural development of the Gorakhpur division so as to promote tourism;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the funds allocated by the Union Government therefor;

(c) whether the basic facilities are available for the indigenous and foreign tourists at the major Buddhist Spots and the Ramgarh Tal and Lake; and

(d) if not, the steps taken by the Union Government in this regard?

(a) No, Sir.

(b) Does not arise.

(c) Improvement of basic facilities is an on going process and is primarily undertaken by the State Governments/UT Administrations. Department of Tourism, however, provides financial assistance for tourism projects prioritised in consultation with the State Governments and UT Administrations every year.

(d) Four infrastructure projects with Central component of Rs.96.93 lakhs have been sanctioned at Buddhist spots in Uttar Pradesh during the first three years of Ninth Plan.
