(a) whether Mahanadi Coalfields Limited (MCL) has
undertaken plantation work in the open cast plantation area;
(b) if so, the area covered under plantation, as on date;
(c) the amount spent thereon, particularly in the
coalfields area in Angul district of Orissa; and
(d) the target fixed for plantation during 2001-02 by the
MCL?

(a)&(b): Yes, Sir. The area covered under plantation of
MCL as on 31.12.1999 is 651.13 HA.
(c)&(d): The amount spent in plantation work in MCL as
on 31.12.1999 is Rs. 7.79 crores and in coalfields of Angul
District as on 31.12.1999 is Rs. 3.70 crores. The target
fixed for plantation in the year 2000-01 and in 2001-02 by
MCL is as follows:
