Question : SKILL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS



(a) whether Government is working on a special skill development programme for the naxal/ maoist-hit areas;

(b) if so, the details thereof along with the areas identified on priority basis; and

(c) whether the State Governments have been /proposed to be involved in the programme and if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF STATE (INDEPENDENT CHARGE) IN THE MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP (SHRI RAJIV PRATAP RUDY)

a) A scheme titled “Skill Development in 34 Districts Affected by Left Wing Extremism“ is being implemented since March, 2011 for skill development in 34 naxal affected districts in nine States. This scheme is being implemented by the Directorate General of Employment and Training (DGET) under the Ministry of Labour and Employment (MoLE)

b) The details of the scheme are given in the Annexure.

c) The State Governments has been involved in implementing the scheme. State Governments are contributing in the following manner:

i. Capital cost to the extent of 25% for establishment of ITIs and SDCs are being borne by State Governments.

ii. All the ground level activities relating to skill training of 5340 youth are being done by State Governments with 100% funding from Central Government.
