Question : EMPLOYMENT ON COMPASSIONATE GROUND .



(a) whether there is any provision for employment on compassionate grounds for those employees of Public Sector Undertakings who are the patient of cancer and want to resign from the job ;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) if not, the reasons therefor; and

(d) the details of the facilities and financial assistance being given to those employees?

(a) to (d): Employment on Compassionate grounds comes under the purview of the PSUs concerned and details in this regard are not centrally maintained. Generally, compassionate appointment of a son / daughter or a near relative is considered when an employee dies in harness leaving his family in immediate need of assistance or in exceptional cases in the event of retirement on medical grounds, taking into consideration all relevant factors including financial condition of the family, size of the family, absence of an earning member, ages of children subject to availability of suitable vacancies.
