Question : DEATH DUE TO SWINE FLU DURING HAJ



(a) whether some Haj Pilgrims had died of Swine Flu during this year’s annual Haj Pilgrimage; and

(b) if so, the details thereof?

(a) Yes.

(b) As per the information received by the Government two Indian Haj pilgrims have so far died of Swine Flu. Their details are :

(i) Shri Mohmed Essa Ali Patel, S/O Late Essa Ali Patel, R/O C-1850 Kot Parsiwad, Nava Rasta, Bharuch-392001, Gujarat, Passport No. H-2919992; Age 73 years; Pilgrim went for Haj through a private tour operator M/S Al Hujjja International Tour and Travels, Mumbai and died on 19.11.2009 at 12:30 PM in King Abdul Aziz Hospital (Al Zahir), Makkah

(ii) Shri Abdullah Thyullathil, S/O Thyullathil Ali R/O Thyllathil House, PO. Thondernadu Korame, via Vellamunda, Distt. Wayanad, Kerala, Passport No. : H-5114445, Cover no. KL-7688-2; Age: 58 Years/Male; Pilgrim went for Haj through the Haj Committee of India and died on 28.11.2009 at 04:30 PM.
