Question : Wadsa-Gadchiroli Rail Network

(a) whether in the 2011-12 Budget of the Ministry, a provision was made for connecting Gadchiroli, a district headquarters in the tribal dominated and the most backward area in Maharashtra with Wadsa-Gadchiroli rail network; if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether construction of the Wadsa-Gadchiroli railway line has commenced; if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether the Railway officials had any meeting or correspondence with State Government officials and public representatives for approval by the State Government for construction of 1.5 km route in Dhanoli of Deori-Amgaon legislative consltituency in Gondia district under Gadchiroli parliamentary constituency of Maharashtra; if so, the details thereof;

(d) whether the Railways has given its consent to the State Government for construction of above route; and

(e) if not, the reasons for delay therein along with the time by which the said construction works are likely to be commenced and completed?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) TO (e) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION NO.1811 BY SHRI ASHOK MAHADEORAO NETE TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 08.12.2021 REGARDING WADSA-GADCHIROLI RAIL NETWORK

(a) and (b) Wadsa-Gadchiroli (52.36 km) NL project was included in Budget in 2011-12. Project has been sanctioned on 50:50 cost sharing basis with Government of Maharashtra. Latest anticipated cost of the project is ?1096 cr. An expenditure of ?42.07 crore has been incurred upto March 2021.

The project work not yet started physically due to delay in conveying the consent by Government of Maharashtra to share the 50% of present project cost and delay in land acquisition. This project involves acquisition of private land 117.378 Hectare, Govt. land 16.352 Hectare and forest land 71.722 Hectare.
(c) to (e) Road is passing through railway land. Existing Road within the Railway land is Kutcha and it is bituminous outside Railway land. Public representatives through various letters and meetings approached the Railway for issue of NOC from Railway department to State Govt. for undertaking repair/ improvement of existing road in Railway land. Railway approached Collector Gondia to give consent regarding bearing entire cost of Major repair/improvement of road by the State Govt.
Meetings with State Govt were also conducted. In meeting Collector Gondia advised Zila Parisad Gondia to submit proposal to Railway as per Railway Board''s Policy, which is awaited.
After getting consent of State Government, case will be dealt for issue of NOC as per extant policy of Railway Board.
The delay is due to non-submission of consent by State Authorities.
