Question : Problems of Indian Airlines

(a) whether the Indian Airlines is facing a problem of old and ageing fleet and various other difficulties and if so, the details thereof;

(b) whether the Government proposes to make Indian Airlines attractive airline with state-of-art facilities;

(c) if so, the response of the Government in this regard; and

(d) Whether the Government proposes to plan for renewal of their fleet that would further enhance the profile of Indian Airlines in terms of the service they offer and if so, the details thereof?

(a) No, Sir. The average age of the aircraft operated by Air India Group is 7.0 years which is as per industry standards. ;

(b) & (c) The state-of-art facilities initiated by Air India to make it attractive airline include:-

(i) Improvement in cabin ambience

(ii) Change in cutlery, menu and cabin crew uniform

(iii) Launch of Maharaja Direct - Inflight Product upgrade to enhance the passenger satisfaction in premium Class on Long Haul flights. ;

(iv) Induction of brand new aircraft on several domestic & international routes to increase passenger appeal;

(d) No further induction of new planes is envisaged as of now.;
