Question : 4G WIRELESS BROAD BAND PROJECT



(a) whether the Government of Karnataka and Software Technology Parks of India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Los Angeles based Charmed Networks for `the worlds` first `4G` of fourth generation wireless broad band pilot project;

(b) if so, the details thereof;

(c) whether this tripartite agreement will make Bangalore the `first city to test and establish the future generation of wireless broad band`; and

(d) if so, the details thereof?

MINISTER OF PARLIAMENTARY AFFAIRS AND INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (SHRI PRAMOD MAHAJAN)

(a): Yes, Sir, the Memorandum of Understanding(MoU) has been signed between Government of Karnataka, Software Technology Parks of India and Charmed Networks.

(b): The MoU is intended to deploy Charmed Products, a range of affordable and wearable internet related products, services and technologies and to conduct the experiments during the pilot project to test, demonstrate the capabilities of these products and gain the operational experience in the administration development of 3G/4G networks.

(c) and (d): If the pilot project is successful, Bangalore would become the first city to test and establish the future generation wireless broad-band network.
