(a)& (b): Ministry of Human Resource Development addresses to educational needs of various sections of society. Ministry of Tribal Affairs, however, supplements such needs of tribal population by establishing Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) in tribal areas to provide quality education to Scheduled Tribe students from class VI to class XII. Funds for such schools are provided to the concerned State Governments grant-in-aid under Article 275(1) proviso of the Constitution of India. Capital cost @ Rs. 12.00 crore per EMRS for construction of school complex, hostels and staff quarters with a provision to go upto Rs. 16.00 crore in hill areas, deserts and islands and recurring cost @ Rs. 42000 per child per annum for running the EMRS are provided.

(c) A Statement indicating the number of proposals received from the States during last 2 years and current year, and sanctioned by the Ministry is enclosed at annexure.
