(a)&(b): Valmiki Ambedkar Awas Yojana (VAMBAY) was implemented in various towns/cities of
Gujarat like Ahmedabad, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Vadodara and Navsari. It was a demand - driven
scheme. State Governments were required to submit viable project proposals for approval of
the Central Sanctioning Committee after depositing State shares for each project in a
separate Bank Account. The scheme has been subsumed in Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban
Renewal Mission (JNNURM) with effect from 3.12.2005.
