(a): The Ministry of Women and Child Development is implementing Centrally Sponsored Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) under which maternity benefits of Rupees Five Thousand is provided in three instalments to Pregnant Women and Lactating Mothers (PW&LM) upon fulfilment of certain conditionalities. The eligible beneficiaries are also entitled to receive the cash incentive as per approved norms towards Maternity Benefit under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY) after institutional delivery so that on an average, a woman gets Rupees Six Thousand. Additionally, PW&LM are also entitled for Supplementary Nutrition under Anganwadi Services, which is Centrally Sponsored Scheme under Umbrella Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) Scheme. Both the PMMVY and Anganwadi Services Schemes are being implemented across the country.

(b) & (c): No, Sir. The conditionalities attached with release of instalments of maternity benefits are meant for improving health seeking behaviour amongst PW&LM.

(d): Presently, no such proposal to increase the maternity benefits provided under PMMVY to PW&LM is under consideration of the Ministry.
