(a) whether the Supreme Court has delivered a judgment to the effect that the underworld gangs were required to be dealt with by all concerned including the judiciary, the executive and the politicians;

(c) the Government`s action thereon?

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. The Supreme Court in its judgment dated 11th July 2001 in Criminal Appeal No. 628 of 1998 entitled State of Maharashtra vs. Bharat Chaganlal Raghani & others reported in SCALE 2001 (4) p.285 has made the following observations:

`……. The eruption of organised crime in India is of recent origin and is at the initial stage. It is the need of the hour to control such criminal activities which tempt the persons involved to amass huge profit. Such crimes have not only a legal facet but has a social and economic aspect which is required to be felt and dealt with by all concerned including the judiciary, the executive, the politicians, the social reformers, intelligentia and the law enforcing agency.`

(c): The observations of the Hon`ble Supreme Court have been noted by the Government.
