Question : Unified Digital Platform for Aviation Sector

(a) whether the Government has undertaken any scheme to integrate all aviation stakeholders on a unified digital platform and has launched DigiYatra initiative to provide air travellers in the country, a pioneering digitally unified flying experience across all stages of their journey;

(b) if so, objectives and details of the scheme thereof;

(c) the challenges faced by the Government in the implementation of the scheme and the steps taken to overcome the difficulties;

(d) whether there is any improvement in the related indices after the implementation of the scheme;

(e) if so, the distribution of the related indices, State-wise; and

(f) whether the Government is undertaking any other policies for promoting the flying experience of flight passengers and if so, the details
thereof?

(a) & (b): In order to enable seamless air travel experience through technology-based systems at all the airports in the country, various consultations have been conducted with all the stakeholders of the aviation ecosystem including airport operators, airlines'' operators, representatives from IT industry, concessionaires, travel agencies, etc. in the Ministry of Civil Aviation in connection with the linking of the PNR number of an air passenger at the time of booking with a unique digital identification number such as PAN Card number, Aadhar Card Number, Passport or Driving license number or any other identity proof. The major objective of this initiative is to enhance passengers'' convenience and satisfaction level by facilitating them with hassle-free entry, security procedures, e-boarding, etc. during air travel through web-enabled equipments.

(c): The biggest challenges perceived by all stakeholders in respect of implementation of the Digi Yatra initiative is effective co-ordination among all the stakeholders of aviation system, especially between airlines and airport operators, deployment of infrastructure at airports and concerns regarding security and privacy aspects. In order to identify and overcome the challenges in implementation of Digi Yatra, a three tier set-up has been constituted by Ministry of Civil Aviation which includes a Policy Review Board, Technical Committee and Digital Cell respectively. ;

(d) & (e): Since the Digi Yatra initiative is presently in its early stages of conception, no such information may be available as of now.;

(f): GoI, in its continuous endeavour to promote and improve flying experience of passengers has undertaken various initiatives such as launch of first comprehensive National Civil Aviation Policy, 2016 to accelerate growth of an integrated aviation ecosystem, greater focus on infrastructure development at airports, promotion of regional air connectivity through Regional Connectivity Scheme-UDAN to ensure affordable flying and launch of passenger friendly initiatives such as Air Sewa portal to provide a delightful air travel experience.
