(a) whether Andhra Pradesh Government has requested the Union Government to consider the construction of railway line from Hastavarana Railway station near Cuddapah to Krishnapatnam port;

(b) if so, the details thereof; and

(c) the time by which the said railway line is likely to be sanctioned to ease transportation of coal and iron ore?

STATEMENT REFERRED TO IN REPLY TO PARTS (a) to (c) OF UNSTARRED QUESTION No. 3777 BY SHRI ASADUDDIN OWAISI TO BE ANSWERED IN LOK SABHA ON 23.12.2004 REGARDING DEVELOPMENT OF DEEP WATER PORT AT KRISHNAPATNAM.

(a) & (b) : Yes, Sir. A request has been received recently from the Andhra Pradesh Government requesting for construction of new broad gauge rail line from Obulvaripalli in Kadapa District to Krishnapatnam Port.

(c) : The work of providing rail link to Krishnapatanam Port is an identified work under National Rail Vikas Yojana (NRVY). Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) has already prepared a bankability report based on the Preliminary Engineering-cum-Traffic Survey conducted by the Railway. RVNL has been directed to conduct final location survey with modified standards and to review the traffic considering the impact of up gradation of Ennore Port.
