Question : Development of Eco-Tourism Around Fresh Water Lakes

(a) whether the Government proposes to build eco-tourism around the freshwater lakes in the country, particularly in Mahoba district, Uttar Pradesh;
(b) if so, the proposal of Government to develop such eco-friendly spots surrounding the lakes thereof;
(c) whether the Government has received consultation projects from the State Government of Uttar Pradesh; and
(d) if so, the details thereof?

(a) to (d): The Ministry of Tourism under Swadesh Darshan scheme is developing thematic circuits in the country in a planned and prioritized manner. Fifteen thematic circuits have been identified for development under the scheme. Development of tourist facilities like creation of promenade, illumination, landscaping, benches, public conveniences, jetties, cruise, cafetaria etc. near the freshwater lakes is one of the many components taken up for development under the scheme.

The submission of proposals by the State Governments/UT Administrations under the scheme is a continuous process and the projects are sanctioned subject to availability of funds, submission of suitable detailed project reports, adherence to scheme guidelines and utilization of funds released earlier.

Ministry has sanctioned a project for Development of Spiritual Circuit: Bijnor- Meerut- Kanpur- Kanpur Dehat- Banda- Ghazipur- Salempur- Ghosi- Balia- Ambedkar Nagar- Aligarh- Fatehpur- Deoria- Mahoba- Sonbhadra- Chandauli- Mishrikh- Bhadohi during 2016-17 which includes development of Madan Sagar, Kirat Sagar and Rawatpur Temple around fresh water lakes in Mahoba District of Uttar Pradesh.
